JEE (Advanced) 2020

The Joint Entrance Examination (Advanced) 2020 will be conducted by the IITs under the guidance of the Joint Admission Board (JAB) 2020. The performance of a candidate in this examination will form the basis for admission to the Bachelor's, Integrated Master's and Dual Degree programs (entry at the 10+2 level) in all the IITs. The decisions of the JAB 2020 will be final in all matters related to JEE (Advanced) 2020 and admission to IITs.



The examination consists of two papers, Paper 1 and Paper 2, each of three hours duration and will be held as per the following schedule:

Both the papers are compulsory. The exam will be held in fully computer-based test mode.

The schedule will remain the same even if the day of examination is declared a public holiday.

JEE Advanced 2020 - Quick Facts


1. JEE Advanced exam is conducted for admission in IITs.
2. Only those students who qualify JEE Mains becomes eligible to appear in JEE Advanced
3. JEE Advanced consists of two papers, Paper I and II, both objective in nature carrying 54 questions each.
4. JEE Advanced is conducted in online mode as Computer Based Test
5. Students have to secure the minimum cutoff marks, as decided by the authority to qualify JEE Advanced.

JEE Advanced Eligibility Criteria 2020

Students who wish to appear for the JEE Advanced 2020 must ensure that they fulfill all the eligibility criteria as mandated by the Joint Admission Board (JAB). The following are the eligibility criteria which candidates should meet
Criteria 1 - Qualifying JEE Main : Candidates should have appeared and qualified the JEE Main 2020 exam. Additionally, Candidates must have secured the minimum cutoff mark for appearing in JEE Advanced and must be in list of top 250,000 candidates.The qualifying cutoff in JEE Main 2019 for appearing in Advanced is given below.

For categorising the top 250,000 candidates, 4% Gen-EWS, 27% OBC-NCL, 15% SC, 7.5% ST and 46.5% open seats with additional 5% horizontal reservation for PwD are considered in the order of merit.

Criteria 2 - Age Limit : As per the recent ruling from the Supreme Court of India, age limit for appearing in JEE Advanced has been temporarily lifted till further notice. Candidates can appear in JEE Advanced 2020 irrespective of their age.

Criteria 3 - Number of Attempts : Candidates can appear for JEE Advanced for a maximum of two attempts in two consecutive years.

Criteria 4 - Class 12 Exam : Candidates should have appeared in Class 12 either in 2019 or 2020

Criteria 5 - Earlier Admissions in IITs : Candidates appearing in JEE Advanced must not have admitted in any IITs irrespective of that they have continued or left the program or accepted the seat by reporting to IIT.

JEE Advanced Application Form 2020

The application form of JEE Advanced will be released in online mode tentatively in the first week of May. Students who will qualify JEE Main 2020 and fulfil all other eligibility criteria criteria as mentioned will be allowed to fill the application form. The following steps are involved in filling the application form,

Step 1 - Registration : Students have to register online at JEE Advanced portal using their JEE Main Application Number and Password. After login, additional information and details have to be submitted.

Step 2 - Uploading Documents : Students have to upload marksheets of class 10 and 12 and category certificate if applicable and other required documents.

Step 3 - Payment of Application Fees : Students need to pay the application fee after uploading photograph and signature.

Step 4 - Printing of Confirmation Page : Students have to submit the application form after payment of application fees. Students must carefully verify all the details furnished by them before finally submitting the application form. After submitting, take a coloured print of the application form and keep it save for all future reference till the admission process is complete. Students need not send the hard copy of application form to JEE Advanced office.

JEE Advanced Exam Centres 2020
The JEE Advanced exam centres are the venues where the exam will be conducted. Exam will be held in multiple cities in a single day. Students will have to select six exam cities from a Zone of their choice and exam city will be allotted based on choices filled. Students must note that no request for change in exam centre will be entertained in any condition. A new centre in San Francisco will also be introduced by the authorities.
